Today is the last day of my summer break. I’ve been off work since the end of May so I shouldn’t be complaining, but waaaaah! I’m not ready to go back. In the style of the first day of school traditional “What I Did This Summer” exercise, here is exactly that. What I did this summer.
I love to travel and you’d think that during a 3 month break from work I’d do exactly that, but I didn’t. In fact, I only took one trip-a weekend trip to New Orleans with friends. It was fun. I dined at a couple of new places and hit up my old favorites. A new spot I visited was The Court of Two Sisters. A restaurant in the quarter that’s been on my list for awhile. I split from the group and enjoyed a solo brunch in their scenic courtyard. Food was okay. Drinks and scenery? Perfect!

I worked…A LOT! My shop, Hearts and Hearts Vintage, is my main source of income in the summer. I worked on purchasing inventory and having as many products as I can to sustain the shop for the school year. My goal was 300 active listings on Etsy. I almost made it with 288, but I don’t consider it a total loss because I also listed 200+ modern items in my Poshmark store! I also reached a milestone. 900 sales! Hope to hit 1000 by the end of the year!
I went to see a bunch of movies and got to see Anastasia the musical and Hamilton twice! Before going to Hamilton I didn’t really know anything besides that it was about Alexander Hamilton and people are crazy about it. You can now count me in the Hamilton obsessed number. I haven’t gone a couple of days without listening to the soundtrack since I saw it. I absolutely loved it and now understand the hype.
Other highlights include swimming, catching up on reading, binge watching anime and spending time with family. It was a chill, stress-free break. Just the right thing I need before starting a new school year with new kids.
What did you do this summer? Let me know in the comments if you did something special or spent it just hanging out!
